What ants are we talking about?
We knew the ants of our regions , relatively easy to fight. There are now 3 species of invasive ants that are proliferating in Europe. They are formidable, and very difficult to fight.
I am currently developing a new product to neutralize invasive ants, I will tell you about it soon in a new article on invasive ants.
To combat ants in our regions, you will only need three products:
- BSI STOP Insects to kill ants directly by direct spraying and to treat passage areas . The surfaces that you have impregnated with BSI STOP Insects will remain active and kill ants for several weeks while being without proven toxicity at this dilution rate for humans and their pets.
- Bait boxes containing a poisoned attractant . The aim is for the ants to carry the poison back to the heart of the anthill and destroy it within a few days.
- Diatomaceous earth which has the advantage of containing no chemicals.
The individual strength and collective organization of these insects are impressive. From sunrise to sunset, they work to move the contents of our cupboards to build up their winter reserves at the bottom of the anthill.
In nature this propensity for thieving is not a problem and ants have their uses in biodiversity. In a house ants are highly undesirable, they have no use and are therefore considered pests that must be destroyed.
To eradicate ants from our cupboards
Sort food items (sugar, dog food) carefully and throw away any that are infested in a garbage bag that must be sealed tightly. Clean your cupboards thoroughly and spray them inside and out with BSI STOP Insects .
Complete this treatment by placing bait boxes in places where ants pass (under furniture, under the sink, on window sills)
Ants in flower pots
A tip from grandma, water the plant vigorously, but not too much, to make the ants fall off the leaves and immerse the pot in a basin of water for a few hours. Do not put the pot back in the same place so that the ants do not return to their habits. To keep the ants away from your flowers, place lemon slices around the pots. Thanks grandma.
As long as you don't destroy their nest, they will come back.
All ants have a nest, it is not always easy to find, and it can be in a flower box, or very far away. You have to observe their path in order to go back to the nest.
In my living room, ants seemed very busy along a skirting board, then they disappeared under the parquet floor. They did not know they were at a chemist's! Their path passed under the patio door, then along the wall horizontally, then, following a gutter, they went down into the garden. From there, a new path in the vegetation arrived at a large stone. It was under this stone that they had dug a nest in the ground.
The chemist's hand did not tremble, and half a bottle of BSI STOP Insects poured directly into the nest hole will have got rid of several thousand ants at once. A spray of this same BSI STOP Insects along the entire path of the ants on the house and in the living room will have eliminated the others.
You can make ant traps very easily.
These traps will complement the treatment very well : Spray an empty pickle or jam jar generously with BSI STOP Insects. Sprinkle it with powdered sugar so that it clumps together. Mix equal parts powdered sugar and diatomaceous earth and place this mixture in the jar. Place your traps where the ants go; they will come now or in the spring.
