Basillus Thuringiensis is a micro-organism that can be used in organic farming. It penetrates the boxwood and poisons the box tree moth caterpillars that want to feed on its leaves. Basillus Thuringiensis produces the development of crystals in the intestine of the insects, which will lose their appetite in a few hours and die in two days.
Beware of new regulations governing the sale and use of Bacillus Thuringiensis
- Sales to individuals limit the weight of packaging to 15 grams.
- Bacillus Thuringiensis must be packaged in 2.5 gram water-soluble sachets.
- Any advertising promotion encouraging increased consumption is prohibited.
- Failure to comply with these new provisions exposes the seller and the buyer to very severe penalties.
Employment recommendations:
Apply the treatment in dry, windless weather and at the end of the day, when the bees are resting. Indeed, it is necessary to prevent pollinating insects from quenching their thirst with this treatment, which would then be fatal for them. As bees, butterflies and pollinating insects do not feed on the foliage, provided that they do not come into contact with the liquid product, they cannot be poisoned. The treatment period extends from March to October. The ideal is to treat preventively before the caterpillars appear. For a purely preventive treatment and as long as there are no attacks of box tree moths, three treatments seem reasonable. In the event of an infestation by box tree moths, repeat the treatment every 7 to 10 days depending on the rainfall and the extent of the infestation.
Instructions for use:
Do not open the sachets, they are soluble in water. For the treatment of boxwood, use 1 sachet for 3.3 liters of water, 2 sachets for 6.6 liters of water ...
Dosages for other crops are indicated on the packaging.
In this package, 6 water-soluble sachets of 2.5 grams, to prepare up to 30 liters of preparation depending on the plants, 20 liters for the treatment of box trees.
To obtain a homogeneous mixture, half fill the sprayer, add the water-soluble sachet(s) without opening them, wait 5 minutes for them to dissolve, shake well then finish filling, shake again before spraying.
Spray all over the boxwood, in the heart of the clump, outside and under the leaves. The boxwood should be completely misted until the product runs off the foliage.
As with all sprayable products, I recommend wearing a face mask, gloves and suitable protective clothing when mixing and spraying.
To complete this treatment:
BSI Top Resist is a concentrate of nutrients that will help your boxwood regain vigor and health. Rapidly assimilated by the plant, the results are visible after a few days.
SOLABIOL The pheromone trap that captures box tree moths. To get rid of box tree moths, it is not enough to kill the caterpillars, you also have to destroy the moths that proliferate and constantly colonize new box trees.
